CHART 2026: Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark

i8 Gallery is pleased to present a two-person presentation of works by Yui Yaegashi (b. 1985, Chiba, Japan) and Þór Vigfússon (b. 1954, Iceland) at Chart 2026.

Yui Yaegashi makes paintings using a self-imposed system of rules to create a composition, focusing more on how the paintings will be made, rather than what they will look like. The works are composed with horizontal and vertical lines on a plane, and eschew curvilinear forms that could be reminiscent of real objects or things, focusing the viewer’s attention solely on the system that produced it.

Þór Vigfússon creates powerful objects with colour, texture, and reflection using prefabricated industrial materials. His deceptively simple works push the boundaries between two- and three-dimensional works. Vigfússon‘s geometric works are self-referential, singular, and ideal objects in the minimalist tradition, and are both a reflection and a function of the inner rationalism of contemporary technological society.
