i8 Gallery's presentation for Frieze London 2023 features artists who are key figures within the gallery's history. Two new works by Olafur Eliasson (b. 1967, Denmark) will be on view: a never-before-seen large-scale iceberg sculpture made out of Carrara marble and a coloured glass and drfitwood wall sculpture. A major photograph by Ragnar Kjartansson (b. 1976, Iceland) depicting three smiling McDonald’s workers in Russia delves into the artist’s interest in literature, theatre, performance, and family lore. In 2022, Ryan Mrozowski (b. 1981, USA) joined the gallery’s roster, and our booth will highlight a new, large-scale painting by the artist. B. Ingrid Olson (b. 1987, USA) currently has a year-long exhibition at i8’s second location in Reykjavík, i8 Grandi. In 2022, she had solo museum shows at Harvard’s Carpenter Center and the Secession, Vienna; our booth will include a work of hers combining sculptural and photographic elements. We will present a new, large painting from Callum Innes’s (b. 1962, Scotland) “exposed” painting series that features a smoked grey colour palette. Karin Sander (b. 1957, Germany) is currently representing Switzerland in Venice’s 2023 Architecture Biennale with Philip Ursprung. We will feature new glass sculpture by Sander in our Frieze stand; she also had an exhibition at i8 in summer 2023, over two decades after her first show with the gallery. Lastly, we will feature small-scale paintings by Yui Yaegashi (b. 1985, Japan), who is the most recent artist to join i8’s roster; she will have a solo exhibition at the gallery in November 2023.
