For our Frieze 2024 stand, i8 Gallery presents works by four artists with Icelandic roots central to our program: Ólafur Elíasson, Hreinn Friðfinnsson, Eggert Pétursson, and Ragna Róbertsdóttir. For Ólafur Elíasson (b. 1967, Denmark), we plan to bring recent work in the sculptural realm. Hreinn Friðfinnsson’s (1943-2024, Iceland) multipart installation Suspended (1991-2022), which consists of paint stirring sticks in various painted colours, will cover an entire wall of our stand. From Eggert Pétursson (b. 1956, Iceland), we will include recently completed oil on canvas paintings with a vibrant palette and incredible dimensionality of the oil paint. Lastly, we plan to bring a wall installation by Ragna Róbertsdóttir (b. 1945, Iceland), along with wall-hung sculptures made from silver, which are important elements of her practice.
