As Far as the Eye Can See

Reykjavik Art Museum, Iceland

As Far as the Eye Can See is a major survey of works by Birgir Andrésson at the Reykjavík Art Museum. The exhibition, curated by art historian Robert Hobbs, offers a broad and comprehensive overview of the work of Birgir Andrésson (1955-2007), a pivotal figure in Icelandic art.

As Hobbs writes, "Andrésson in the mid-1970s began employing an international conceptual-art perspective to create an ongoing conversation between Icelandic regional views and global positions. His playful yet erudite art relies on the strategies of language, photography, painting, drawing, archival research, and reframing to celebrate, critique, and question Icelandic cultural traditions with dry humor."
