Hreinn Friðfinnsson: Once we were next-door neighbours : ASÍ Art Museum, Reykjavik, Iceland

21 May - 5 June 2016

Saturday 21 May at 17:00, an exhibition of the works by artists Hreinn Friðfinnsson and John Zurier will be opened at the ASÍ Art Museum. The exhibition, titled Once we were next-door neighbours, is part of the Reykjavík Art Festival 2016.

Poetic perception, place, time and recollections create a common, emotional thread between the transformed found parts and the installations of Hreinn Friðfinnsson and the abstract paintings of John Zurier.

Although they use different methods, techniques and approaches, there is harmony in the artists work; poetic emotion and simplicity connect them. Their methods are scarce, their attitude towards the material is characterized by empathy and sensitivity to how honesty towards the material reveals in a contradictory way a feeling of ephemerality.

The works of Hreinn Friðfinnsson and John Zurier were shown in adjoining spaces during the thirtieth biennial in Saõ Paulo, Brazil. They are now continuing this conversation at the Reykjavík Art Festival with works that are made especially for the hall of the ASÍ Art Museum.

The exhibition runs until June 30 and the museum is open every day except Mondays from 13 to 17.
